HYBRIDS are the solution

Don’t know if HYBRIDS are the answer but mine works really well. Average 65mpg and no need to plug in. Software that teaches you how to drive with gentle breaking and acceleration and a really cool visual display that lets you know when yo are driving ECO. The benefits of range not being limited is clear when traveling off the Island BUT bottom line is that it still uses petrol ( albeit less of it ). It does some other cool things like stopping at lights and turning the aircon down ( which chomps fuel ) when it is on the ECO setting. The cost is not prohibitive - Honda Insight ( 5 door hatchback ) basic model about £12,500 ( about £4k cheaper than the Prius I think ) and the technology is getting better all the time. I am really keen to see more of these on the Island - give us a call at the HUB on 01983 299886 if you want to see it - or call Northwood Honda.

Our older 2001 Honda Insight is a joy to drive, only 2 door, a bit rare, but very good value & a bit of a pioneer. Definitely worth searching out if you can find one as it’s in the second-hand values & perhaps a little cult! Not on the island but not too far away in Somerset & close to @zerocarbonworld’s lovely vehicle!

im wondering if anyone has experienced a conversion over to hydrogen for their petrol / EV Hybrids ?
there has been work done in this area of ‘‘research’’ but getting the chip or replacement ECU tuned specifically for hydrogen
may not be as impossible as it seems.(probably more a case of who you know)

as see it,this would be so close to an LPG conversion ((gas bottle, ECU, filler nozzle )) i cant believe a manufacturer hasnt started offering this as an option. With pressure from the right like-minded individuals, any thing is possible.

good for you eco-island. what a joy it was discovering that you are doing the equivalent of deep=space=exploration where fuel and energy are concerned.

to see a (bottled) hydrogen/EV hybrid ‘‘experiment’’ from 2006 search for Quantum Hydrogen Prius.
